Is Better Than Bouillon halal?

No halal claim

Better Than Bouillon says it does not make any halal-certified bases. The chicken and beef bases contain real meat, and it also sells certified vegan bases.

The longer answer

Better Than Bouillon's FAQ (checked October 2026) asks "Do you have any kosher or halal-certified products?" and answers: "No, we do not currently produce any kosher or halal-certified Better Than Bouillon bases."

The meat bases are made with meat. The Roasted Chicken Base lists roasted chicken and chicken stock first, and the Roasted Beef Base lists roasted beef and concentrated beef stock. With no halal certification, that meat cannot be assumed to be halal slaughtered. The range also includes a Tonkotsu Ramen Base described as made with pork.

The FAQ says the vegan bases carry the Certified Vegan logo, naming Seasoned Vegetable, Organic Seasoned Vegetable and Roasted Garlic among them. Those contain no meat, but they are not halal certified either.

What to check before you order

Skip the chicken, beef and pork based jars. If you use the brand, pick a jar with the Certified Vegan logo and read its ingredient list.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
