Is Betty Crocker halal?

No halal claim

Betty Crocker makes no halal claim. The cake mix and fruit snack ingredient lists we read show no lard or gelatin, but emulsifier and flavor sources are not stated.

The longer answer

Betty Crocker (General Mills) publishes ingredients on each product page. A Super Moist cake mix page we read in October 2026 lists enriched flour, sugar, corn syrup, leavening, palm oil, corn starch, propylene glycol mono and diesters, monoglycerides, sodium stearoyl lactylate, gums, natural and artificial flavor and colors. No lard, gelatin or alcohol is listed. The source of the monoglycerides and flavors is not stated.

Betty Crocker Scooby-Doo Fruit Flavored Snacks list corn syrup, sugar, modified corn starch, apple juice concentrate, fruit pectin, plant-based colors, natural flavor and carnauba wax. No gelatin is listed on that page.

The cake mix and cookie mix FAQ pages on bettycrocker.com say nothing about halal, and we found no halal certification for US Betty Crocker products. Recipes vary across a very large range, so one product's list does not cover another.

What to check before you order

Check the ingredient list of the exact mix or frosting. Look for gelatin, lard or animal shortening, carmine and alcohol, and note that mono and diglycerides and natural flavors are listed without a source.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
