Is Cool Whip halal?

No halal claim

Cool Whip makes no halal claim. Its Original whipped topping lists no gelatin, but it does list emulsifiers and flavors whose source is not stated.

The longer answer

Kraft Heinz's product page for Cool Whip Original (checked October 2026) lists: water, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated vegetable oil (coconut and palm kernel oils), skim milk, and less than 2% of light cream, sodium caseinate (from milk), natural and artificial flavor, xanthan and guar gums, modified food starch, polysorbate 60, sorbitan monostearate, sodium polyphosphate and beta carotene (color).

No gelatin is listed, and the Extra Creamy version has a very similar list, also without gelatin. The page does not say where the polysorbate 60, sorbitan monostearate or flavors come from.

Neither page carries a halal statement, and we found no halal certification claim for Cool Whip on the Kraft Heinz site.

What to check before you order

Read the tub's ingredient list, since flavored and seasonal versions can differ. The emulsifiers and "natural and artificial flavor" are not sourced on the label.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
