Is Empire Kosher halal?

No halal claim

Empire Kosher makes no halal claim. Its chicken is certified kosher by Jewish agencies, and kosher certification is not halal certification.

The longer answer

Empire Kosher's website (FAQ and Kashrut pages, checked October 2026) does not mention halal anywhere. Everything it says about slaughter is about Jewish law. The Kashrut page says "Over 50 rabbis oversee every aspect of our poultry production process" and that its poultry is certified kosher by "the Orthodox Union and Rabbi Yechiel Babad, Tartikov Rav". The FAQ explains that the slaughter is carried out by a shochet under Chasidic standards.

Kosher certification and halal certification are separate systems run by different religious bodies, and a kosher mark is not a halal mark. Empire's products carry no halal certifier.

Whether meat slaughtered by a Jewish slaughterer under kosher rules is permissible for Muslims is a question on which scholars differ. Empire does not address it, and we do not rule on it here.

What to check before you order

The pack carries kosher symbols only, with no halal mark. If you rely on a scholarly opinion about kosher meat, that is a personal decision. If you need halal-certified chicken, choose a brand with a named halal certifier.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
