Is Fage halal?

No halal claim

Fage makes no halal claim. Its Total Plain Greek yogurt lists only milk and live yogurt cultures, with no gelatin or thickeners.

The longer answer

Fage USA's nutrition page (checked October 2026) gives the ingredients for Fage Total 0% Plain as "Grade A Pasteurized Skimmed Milk, Live Active Yogurt Cultures (L. Bulgaricus, S. Thermophilus, L. Acidophilus, Bifidus, L. Casei)." The Total Plain product page describes the line as "made with only milk and live active yogurt cultures."

The flavored split cups add a fruit preparation. The BestSelf Strawberry split cup, for example, lists strawberries, water, cane sugar, corn starch, strawberry juice concentrate, lemon juice concentrate, natural flavors and fruit pectin alongside the yogurt and a lactase enzyme. No gelatin appears in the lists we read.

We found no halal or kosher statement on Fage USA's nutrition, product or contact pages, and the US site has no FAQ that addresses it.

What to check before you order

Plain Fage Total is milk and cultures only. For split cups and desserts, read the fruit or topping ingredients on the pack.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
