Is Go-Gurt halal?

No halal claim

Go-Gurt tubes list "kosher gelatin" and the animal source is not stated. Yoplait says many of its products are halal but does not name Go-Gurt among them.

The longer answer

The ingredient list on Yoplait's page for a 16-count Go-GURT pack (checked October 2026) reads, for the strawberry tubes: cultured grade A nonfat milk, sugar, modified food starch, and 1% or less of kosher gelatin, tricalcium phosphate, corn starch, vegetable juice (for color), potassium sorbate, natural flavor, vitamin A acetate and vitamin D3. The vanilla tubes also list kosher gelatin.

Yoplait's FAQ says of its yogurts generally: "The gelatin is certified Kosher and carries KD (Kosher Dairy) Certification from Rabbi Barnett Hasden." It does not say which animal the gelatin comes from. Kosher gelatin is not automatically halal.

The same FAQ has a halal question. The answer is: "Yes, many of our products are halal, including our Yoplait Original range. However, we advise checking each product before consumption, as our Whips! range is not halal." It names no certifier and does not say whether Go-GURT is included. Go-GURT and Yoplait are owned in the US by Lactalis USA.

What to check before you order

Go-Gurt contains gelatin, so its status depends on the gelatin source, which the label does not give. Ask Yoplait directly whether Go-GURT is among the products it considers halal.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
