Is Halal Pastures halal?

Yes, certified

Yes. Halal Pastures says all its animals are hand slaughtered, and HFSAA lists the farm among its certified products. The certificate copy on the farm's own site is dated through January 2024.

The longer answer

Halal Pastures is an organic farm in Rock Tavern, New York that sells beef, chicken and turkey online and at markets. Its home page (checked October 2026) says: "All of our animals are hand slaughtered in the name of Allah (SWT)." Its philosophy page says the meats are "processed by hand, according to halal tradition" and that it does not use "factory line slaughter plants".

The site has a Halal Certificate page showing a certificate from HFSAA, the Halal Food Standards Alliance of America, for Halal Pastures at 180 Twin Arch Road, Rock Tavern, NY. The certificate image posted there reads "valid through January 2024". We did not find a newer certificate on the site. HFSAA's own list of certified products (checked October 2026) includes Halal Pastures.

What to check before you order

The certificate shown on the farm's site is out of date, although HFSAA's list still includes the farm. Ask the farm for its current certificate if you want to see it.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
