Is Hellmann's halal?
Hellmann's makes no halal claim. Real Mayonnaise is made from oil, eggs, vinegar and lemon juice, lists no meat or alcohol, and is certified Kosher Parve.
The longer answer
Hellmann's US FAQ (checked October 2026) gives the ingredients of Real Mayonnaise as: "Soybean oil, Water, Whole eggs, Distilled vinegar, Egg yolks, Salt, Sugar, Lemon juice concentrate, Calcium disodium EDTA (used to protect quality), and Natural flavors."
The same FAQ says: "Hellmann's Real Mayonnaise is certified Kosher Parve under the Orthodox Union (OU)", and that it is dairy free. Parve means no meat or dairy ingredients. The make-up of the natural flavors is not given.
The FAQ does not mention halal, and we found no halal certification for Hellmann's in the US. Flavored mayonnaises, dressings and sauces from the brand have their own ingredient lists that we did not review.
What to check before you order
The plain Real Mayonnaise list is short and has no animal ingredient other than egg. Read the label on flavored spreads and dressings, which can differ.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
