Is Johnsonville halal?
Johnsonville is mainly a pork sausage company, and its FAQ says its fresh sausages use a natural pork casing. It makes no halal claim.
The longer answer
Johnsonville's Product FAQs page (checked October 2026) answers the casing question directly: "Our fully cooked items and breakfast links use a collagen casing derived from beef, and our fresh breakfast and dinner sausage items use a natural pork casing." The same page says the company sources its pork from US and Canadian farms.
The page does not mention halal, and we found no halal statement or certifier on the Johnsonville pages we read. Brats, Italian sausage and breakfast sausage made from pork are the core of the range.
Johnsonville also has a chicken and turkey sausage line. We did not find ingredient lists for those on the pages we read, and nothing there claims halal slaughter. Going by the FAQ, a fully cooked link would have a beef collagen casing and a fresh one a pork casing.
What to check before you order
Read the ingredient list and casing statement on the pack. Johnsonville's FAQ says its fresh sausages use a natural pork casing, and we found no product that is halal certified.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
