Is Kerrygold halal?
Kerrygold USA makes no halal claim. It says all its cheeses use microbial rennet and are suitable for vegetarians, and one Dubliner variety is made with Irish stout.
The longer answer
Kerrygold USA's FAQ (checked October 2026) does not mention halal, and we found no halal certification claim on its US site.
On rennet the FAQ says: "All Kerrygold cheeses are made using microbial rennet, and therefore are suitable for vegetarians. Kerrygold butter is suitable for vegetarians."
Two other points from the same FAQ are relevant. First, it says Kerrygold "Dubliner" cheese with Irish Stout "is made with real Irish stout", so that variety contains a beer ingredient. Second, on kosher status it says Kerrygold butters, excluding Garlic and Herb butter, are kosher, but "all Kerrygold cheeses are NOT kosher."
What to check before you order
Plain Kerrygold cheeses and butters use microbial rennet or no rennet, but none carries a halal mark. Avoid the Dubliner with Irish Stout variety if you avoid alcohol ingredients, and read the label of any flavored cheese.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
