Grocery and meat
Is King's Hawaiian halal?
King's Hawaiian makes no halal claim, but says its grocery breads and rolls contain no pork and that eggs and dairy are the only animal-based ingredients.
The longer answer
King's Hawaiian's FAQ (checked October 2026) answers the question "Are there any Pork or any Animal By-Products in your products?" with: "the only animal-based ingredients we use are Eggs and Dairy Products. Besides those two ingredients, everything (including the Enzymes and Mono-& Diglycerides) is vegetable-based. Our bread products do not contain pork."
The company says this applies to its Original Hawaiian Sweet, Honey Wheat and Savory Butter breads and rolls sold in grocery stores, and not to bakery items sold at its Torrance, California restaurants. The same FAQ says all ingredients are kosher certified, with a Kosher Dairy designation.
The FAQ does not mention halal, and we found no halal certification. We did not find a statement on newer flavored items such as the Ube Coconut or Maple Brown Sugar rolls.
What to check before you order
The company statement covers the classic Original Hawaiian Sweet, Honey Wheat and Savory Butter lines. For newer flavors and filled bites, read the ingredient list on the pack.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
