Grocery and meat
Is Kronos Foods halal?
Only some. Kronos makes a halal-certified line of gyro cones and slices, but its traditional gyro cones are not halal, and restaurants rarely say which they use.
The longer answer
Kronos is a foodservice gyro brand, now part of Grecian Delight Kronos. The company's Halal page (checked October 2026) describes a "full lineup of Halal-certified gyro cones" sold under the Kronos, Hellene and Olympic Spirit Select names, plus halal chicken shawarma cones and ReadyCarved halal gyro slices. The same page links separately to its non-halal cones, so the standard Kronos gyro cone is a different product.
The only certifier named on that page is on one item, listed as "Grecian Delight Halal Supreme, HFSSA Certified" (spelled that way by the company). The other halal cones are described as certified without a named body. The company's About page says: "Beef & Poultry Gyros Produced According to Islamic Rites when Bearing Logo".
The page does not say whether the meat is hand slaughtered or which slaughterhouses supply it.
What to check before you order
At a gyro shop, ask to see the box: a halal Kronos cone carries a halal logo and the word Halal in the product name. A sign saying only "Kronos" does not tell you which cone is on the spit.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
