Is Mission Tortillas halal?

No halal claim

Mission makes no halal claim, but says its tortillas, wraps and chips contain no animal-based ingredients. Its pork rinds and Fresh Signature flatbreads are the exceptions.

The longer answer

Mission Foods' FAQ (checked October 2026) says: "Mission wraps, tortillas and chips do not contain any ingredients coming from animal-based products, making them acceptable for vegetarian and vegan diets." On the mono and diglycerides in flour tortillas it says: "They are vegetable-based."

The same FAQ says the only animal-derived products are Mission Chicharrones (pork rinds) and Mission Fresh Signature Flatbread products. A flour tortilla product page we read lists vegetable shortening made from soybean oils, with no lard.

The FAQ says most products are kosher, apart from the pork rinds, salsas and Fresh Signature flatbreads. It does not mention halal, and we found no halal certification for Mission products.

What to check before you order

Mission tortillas list vegetable shortening, not lard, but check the pack since other tortilla brands do use lard. Avoid Mission Chicharrones, which are pork rinds.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
