Is Nathan's Famous halal?

No halal claim

Nathan's Famous retail franks are 100% beef with no pork listed, and one variety uses a sheep casing, but the brand makes no halal claim or certification.

The longer answer

The retail product pages for Nathan's Famous (checked October 2026) list the ingredients of the Skinless Beef Franks as beef, water and 2% or less of salt, sorbitol, potassium lactate, natural flavoring, sodium phosphate, hydrolyzed corn protein, paprika, sodium diacetate, sodium erythorbate and sodium nitrite. The page describes them as 100% beef franks. No pork is listed.

The Natural Casing Beef Frankfurters have the same ingredient list, followed by the words "With Natural Sheep Casing". So the casing on that variety is sheep, not pork.

Neither page mentions halal, and no certifier is named. The beef is not described as coming from halal slaughter. This entry covers the packaged franks sold in grocery stores, not Nathan's restaurants or stands.

What to check before you order

The ingredient list shows beef and no pork, but there is no halal mark. If you need certified halal meat, choose a brand that names its certifier on the pack.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
