Is Target halal?

No halal claim

Target makes no halal claim for its meat. Searching target.com for halal chicken or beef returned no halal-labeled meat when we checked in October 2026.

The longer answer

We searched target.com for "halal", "halal chicken" and "halal beef" in October 2026, with the site set to a Dearborn, Michigan store. The only products that came back with halal in the name were pantry items, for example Wonderful pistachios and a Tabasco sauce whose listings say "Halal". No fresh or frozen meat with halal in the name appeared.

Target's own Good & Gather and Market Pantry meat listings that surfaced in our search describe the beef in terms such as "all natural" and say nothing about halal slaughter or certification. We found no Target statement about halal meat.

Target's range differs by store and changes often, so a local store may stock halal-certified packaged brands that did not show up in our search.

What to check before you order

Treat Target's fresh meat as not halal unless the pack itself carries a halal certification mark. For packaged and frozen food, look for the certifier's logo on the box rather than relying on the website title.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
