Is Velveeta halal?
Velveeta makes no halal claim. The ingredient list for the original loaf includes "enzymes" and Kraft Heinz does not state on the product page where they come from.
The longer answer
Kraft Heinz's product page for Velveeta Original (checked October 2026) lists: skim milk, milk, canola oil, milk protein concentrate, sodium phosphate, and less than 2% of modified food starch, whey protein concentrate, maltodextrin, whey, salt, calcium phosphate, lactic acid, sorbic acid, milkfat, sodium alginate, sodium citrate, enzymes, apocarotenal and annatto (color), cheese culture and vitamin A palmitate.
The enzymes are not described as microbial or animal on the page, and there is no gelatin in the list. The page carries no halal or kosher statement.
We found no halal certification claim for Velveeta on the Kraft Heinz site, and the Velveeta section has no FAQ page that addresses it. The Velveeta range also includes boxed meals, among them a Shells and Cheese with Bacon variety.
What to check before you order
The label says only "enzymes", so the source can only be confirmed by asking Kraft Heinz directly. For Velveeta boxed dinners, read the pack for bacon or other meat ingredients.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
