Is Zabiha Halal (Maple Lodge Farms) halal?

Yes, certified

Zabiha Halal is a Canadian brand certified by CHFCA and HMO using machine slaughter with live Muslim blessers; US availability is not stated on its site.

The longer answer

Zabiha Halal's FAQ (checked October 2026) states: 'Zabiha Halal is certified Halal by the Canadian Halal Food Certifying Agency (CHFCA) as well as Halal Monitoring Organization (HMO).' The brand is owned by Maple Lodge Farms of Brampton, Ontario, which the FAQ notes 'is not owned by Muslims.' The site describes 'an Automated Slaughter process' in which 'an automatic rotary blade' cuts the throat 'while live Muslim blessers orally recites Tasmiah and Takbeer,' and mentions machine and gas stunning; shoppers who require hand slaughter should note this. Neither zabihahalal.com nor maplelodgefarms.com states that products are sold in the United States, and we could not verify US retail distribution.

What to check before you order

Check for the CHFCA/HMO marks and note the brand's own disclosure that slaughter is automated, not by hand. Confirm with the retailer if you see it in a US store.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
